Forlì, 23 December 2021 – The Ferretti Group, a world leader in the design, construction and sale of luxury motor yachts and pleasure vessels, with a portfolio of eight prestigious and exclusive brands, turnover in excess of 88 million euros, and about 1,600 employees, expresses its satisfaction at the approval by CIPESS of the resources allocated in the framework of the Taranto Institutional Development Contract for the installation of a Ferretti Group production site in the areas known as “Ex Belleli”.
After the official application for inclusion in the national development contract submitted by Ferretti Tech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ferretti spa, the CIPESS resolution now makes it possible to build a shipyard with a covered area of over 65,500 sq m out of a total 220,00 sq m, providing direct employment for over 200 people in addition to the positive knock-on effect on the local supply chain.
“Thanks to the CIPESS resolution yesterday, Ferretti Group can now launch an investment programme in Taranto to develop models, moulds, an engineering department and an advanced research and technology centre focusing on materials such as carbon and glass fibre,” said Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi. “We are powerfully motivated to have a presence in the region of Puglia and to contribute to the redevelopment of an extensive industrial area through technologies and people capable of driving a step change in the approach to business excellence. Puglia has industry, entrepreneurship and a hard-working attitude, and we are looking forward to playing our part in a new direction for Taranto and the region as a whole. We owe a great deal to the efforts of Mara Carfagna, the Italian Minister for Southern Italy and Territorial Cohesion, who worked to achieve a positive and swift outcome. Thanks also to the irreplaceable contribution of the President of the region of Puglia Michele Emiliano and the support of the Italian government, it will be possible to create a centre of excellence that will provide employment for dozens of families and redevelop an area with huge potential, in a strategic position between the two seas on which are shipyards are located.
