A professional training course for young people looking at a career in boatbuilding.

Forlì, 23rd March 2023 – Much more than an extra-curricular internship for career guidance, this basic professional training course combines theory and experience in the yard – in a programme ranging from sessions in the classroom and workshop to on-the-job training in production departments – with the aim of creating real career opportunities. This is the Scuola dei Mestieri (School of Trades), a new Ferretti Group project for 18- to 30-year-olds and designed to form a new generation of skilled workers.

The first edition of the three-month course, officially launched early in March, will be held at the “Don Bosco” Professional Training Centre in Forlì, an important institution in the heart of the city that has been active since 1952 and understands the needs of the labour market through its ongoing dialogue with businesses.

The 11 participants in the Forlì project are excited about this hands-on approach to the world of work and the opportunity to discover a new skilled occupation that could be the start of a solid career as a naval carpenter, deck fitter, engine mechanic, etc.

In Ferretti Group’s vision, in fact, the Scuola dei Mestieri will become an incubator of young resources attracted by the excellence of Italian boatbuilding. After this first stage in Forlì, the Scuola dei Mestieri will move to Mondolfo and Sarnico in September to involve more young people in the new project.

The goal of transferring knowledge will also be achieved by exploiting the Group’s own know-how: the classroom courses will be held by managers and key technical experts who have worked in Ferretti Group, including a former yard manager and a former line foreman.

“We see it as our duty towards the community, as well as a pleasure, to share the precious expertise acquired over the years by Ferretti Group with young people keen to embark on this adventure, which we hope will be the beginning of a fruitful and long-term career,” announced the Company. “In September, following the kick-off in Forlì, the format will used in the Mondolfo and Sarnico yards to train carpenters and mechanics respectively. We are extremely glad to be able to contribute in this way to the formation of a new generation of skilled workers.”

The three-month course is paid as if it were an extra-curricular internship and is designed to provide on-the-job training in line with an approach that has always been fundamental in the highly skilled trades.

At the end of the three months, participants will receive certificates from both the Company and the local government (Regione Emilia-Romagna).
