World-class yachting has a new protagonist - a yacht born to conquer owners and enthusiasts of all ages and with all kinds of experience.
A challenging endeavour, but success is undoubtedly around the corner.
The Ferretti Yachts 450, the latest arrival in the historic brand’s fleet, is the result of the long-standing expertise and nautical culture of Ferretti Yachts, which over the last few decades has produced the best-known Italian flybridge yachts in the world.
The stunning new model, which features an innovative hull geometry, spacious volumes, and functional and stylish interiors, draws on Ferretti Yachts' construction skills and expertise in the strategic 40- to 50-foot range.
The Ferretti Yacht 450 retains the family feeling common to all the brand’s latest models, particularly its ‘older sister’, the Ferretti Yachts 550 launched last September that can already boast 8 units sold around the world.
“The Ferretti Yachts 450 will be our business card to the world, for many different reasons” says Ferretti Group's Chief Commercial Officer Stefano De Vivo.
“Not only because it is the latest born in our fleet and the model that introduces owners to the exclusive world of Ferretti Yachts, but also because it is a ‘dream generator’ ready to conquer the market.
This highly competitive yacht will attract and charm different types of owners: it will be appreciated by ‘younger’ clients in terms of age or yachting experience, as well as owners with a long-standing boating history.
Both will discover that our 45-footer is the ideal product to start, continue or resume their passion for the sea.
We are extremely proud of this project and can’t wait to present the Ferretti Yacht 450 next summer.”
This new flybridge model is result of intense collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee, the Engineering Department who supervised the engineering and naval architecture, and Studio Zuccon International Project, responsible for the exterior and interior design. The first units are already under construction with the entire process - from the infused fibreglass hulls to the interior joinery - being carried out at Ferretti Yachts’ new VTR (fibreglass) plant in Forlì that opened in early 2016. This state-of-the-art facility also increases the brand’s production capacity and a large number of units are due for completion by the end of 2016.
The first 45-footer will be launched next summer, with an official preview for the Group’s customers scheduled for early September, just ahead of its world debut at Cannes Yachting Festival 2016.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
The exterior profile is characterised by streamlined and fluid lines that embody the brand’s increasingly sporty character, even for the smaller models. The three large glazed windows with flush portholes, allowing plenty of natural light into the interior, are distinctive elements of this yacht and of the entire fleet below 80 feet.
The superstructure incorporates a continuous side and front glazed surface that forms an uninterrupted stripe running around the entire yacht, making its profile look even more streamlined. This same design solution also provides guests with magnificent views, and the pilot with unhindered sightlines. The spacious flybridge, integrated in the overall design, adds personality to the yacht combined with a new Vulcan Grey decoration at its base, added by another lower one, near the cockpit.
AFT AREA, COCKPIT AND MAIN DECK INTERIORS
The swimming platform can be fitted with a tender lift to provide a submerged platform that can be used either as a beach club or to launch/retrieve a tender of up to 2.80 metres.
From the stern platform there is access to the cockpit, furnished with an aft sofa and optional fixed wooden table, which can also be reached from the quay via an optional concealed passarelle.
Access to the main deck interior is via a large 3-section sliding glass door that can be disguised under the staircase leading to the flybridge, resulting in a large open space connected to the salon. The galley is located beside the cockpit, and fitted with a starboard cabinet with refrigerator, freezer, and glassware compartments. A large living area with C-shaped sofa and dining table is located forward near the dinette. The latter features two sofas and a TV unit behind them, concealable upon request. The helm station is positioned along the starboard side.
LOWER DECK
The Ferretti Yacht 450 comes in a two or three-cabin layout.
In the former, the owner and guests have available two spacious suites at sea level. The full-beam master cabin with large en-suite head and separate shower stall is located amidships. It is furnished with a central double bed, two generous wardrobes, a cabinet at the foot of the bed, more storage compartments along the bulwarks, and a comfortable starboard sofa offering a breathtaking view over the sea.
The forward VIP cabin is fitted with a vanity set and an airy head with separate shower stall, which can also be used as a day head. The two-cabin layout also provides for a portside utility room with washing machine and tumbler drier.
The alternative three-cabin layout maximises onboard space by including an extra cabin with bunk beds.
In this case, the VIP cabin head will be shared with the guest cabin, as well as serving as a day head.
INTERIOR DESIGN
The new model marks another step in the ‘new wave’ in style that distinguishes all the latest Ferretti Yachts models. Following widespread appreciation at international level, the Engineering Department’s interior designers are proposing a constant play between contrasting materials and colour shades, harmoniously combining different types of wood and lacquered surfaces and increasing the use of fabrics.
The final result is a sober, refined style that is perfectly in line with Ferretti Yachts’ tradition.
FLYBRIDGE AND FORWARD EXTERIORS
The flybridge offers incredibly spacious relaxation areas. Forward there is a dining area with a central table and a bar unit with a sink, where a refrigerator and grill can be added.
The exterior helm station is fitted with a compact dashboard featuring all the necessary equipment and navigation instruments. The life raft has been conveniently placed under the pilot seat, freeing up the entire forward section for use as a large sunbathing area. Upon request, the flybridge can come with an awning or soft top.
The forward area is further provided with a wide central sunpad.
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE
The Ferretti Yachts 450 will be equipped with twin Cummins engines in two possible configurations: twin 425 Mhp QSB 6.7 or twin 480 Mhp QSB 6.7 power units. The former provide a cruising speed of 25 knots and a maximum speed of 30 knots, while the latter will push cruising speed to 27 knots and maximum speed to 31.5 knots (preliminary data). The new yacht can also be fitted with a user-friendly joystick that will further simplify manoeuvring and mooring operations.
