Miami, Thursday, February 14th 2008 – Ferretti Group, at the very top of the international luxury yacht segment, is present at the Miami International Boat Show with 33 yachts, of which 4 are new models.
After a successful nautical season of Boat Shows all over the world, the event in Miami is yet another occasion for Ferretti Group to confirm its strong commitment to international boating markets, particularly the US: 4 new models are being presented at the event, of which 3 are US debuts: Riva 63’ Vertigo, Custom Line 97’ and the CRN 43m ‘Emerald Star’, which has been presented as the ‘Queen of the Show’ by the Miami Boat Show organizing committee. Bertram, FerrettiGroup’s only U.S. brand, is presenting the world premiere of its new flagship version, Bertram 700 Enclosed. This model follows the resounding success of the Bertram 700 Open, which was launched in Fort Lauderdale last October.
During the traditional Opening Press Conference held on February 14th, Vincenzo Cannatelli, Ferretti Group CEO, commented: “The US market is a key area for our Group. Despite the recent difficulties of the US nautical market, we are satisfied with the Group’s performance in this area, and intend to continue our strongcommitment here. We’ve learned a great deal since we first began operating in this market, and this has allowed our sales in the US to grow over the past five years. Our continuous commitment to the US market is the reason for this success, through new investments in technology, manufacturing and, most importantly, human resources. Moreover, each year we launch a significant number of newmodels in order to meet the specific needs of our US clients. We will continue our program of expansion within this market, focusing on the development of a stronger Service network, which will play an increasingly important role in our growth”.
New Models at the Miami International Boat Show
Bertram 700 Enclosed (world debut)
Following the outstanding success of Bertram’s new flagship, the 700 Convertible, which was launched last October in Ft. Lauderdale, Bertram introduces the new 700Enclosed version here in Miami. Responding to an increased industry and customer demand for yachts in the 67’-74’ category, Bertram Yacht created the largest Bertram model with performance, luxury and comfort in mind.
The deep-V hull, which set the standard for offshore excellence more than 40 years ago, coupled with the modification of the hull strakes to reduce impact at the bow of the boat, combine for a smoother ride and increased performance. With optional power, the Bertram 700 has cruising speeds of 35 knots.
Zuccon International Project, the designers of the superstructure and interiors, developed a variety of innovative elements for the 700. The new Bertram shear line profile showcasing a smooth curve sets the 700 apart, attracting appreciative stares at marinas across the globe. Additionally, the 700 is the first model to have the mezzanine come standard.
The first Bertram Yacht model to use African mahogany for furniture, the 700 also features a new salon layout built with storage in mind.
Additionally, new to the sportfishing segment, the 700 offers innovative designed windows on the port and starboard sides of the master stateroom, products of the sophisticated design and glass technology of the Advanced Yacht Technology department at Ferretti Group. Vigorously tested to hold up in Bertram-worthy weather conditions, sportfishermen can be certain the windows aren’t just aesthetically appealing, but also provide the superior strength needed in an offshore sportfish yacht.
Riva 63’ Vertigo (US debut)
Elegance, harmony, style. These three nouns best describe the new 63’ Vertigo, the latest Riva open designed by Mauro Micheli and Officina Italiana Design, which entered production this year. The yacht’s unmistakable style is true to all the shipyard’s products, yet still highly innovative and considerably different to its predecessors. Exquisitely elegant and beautifully designed, 63’ Vertigo features aristocratic lines which only just manage to conceal its spirited character.
Designed to optimise the space available and guarantee total comfort, this new open features a number of highly innovative solutions, beginning with the comfortable sofa running on two tracks towards the table to its left, transforming the cockpit into an elegant outdoor salon. The central command position features last generation navigation instruments and the command seat – an example of the latest technology recalling the Rivarama seat – can transform from one to three positions in just a few seconds.
The interiors have also been designed to guarantee maximum space and comfort.
This new Riva cadet, set between the 52’ Rivale and 68’ Ego, is the largest craft currently being produced in the Sarnico shipyard. She has two MAN 12 valve engines producing1360 Mhp, guaranteeing - as ever – an excellent performance – speeds of up to 38.5 knots and a range of 250 nm at cruising speed.
Custom Line 97’ (US debut)
The Custom Line 97’, a 29.5 metre yacht featuring a smart and aggressive layout, is the latest model produced by the Custom Line shipyard. Heir to Custom Line 94’, the first yacht produced from the working relationship between Studio Zuccon International Project and the CRN Engineering Division, it takes up the shape, while featuring new design solutions which aim at increasing the space available to owners and their guests.
From the spacious cockpit guests can access the salon, featuring a conversation and dining area. Continuing towards the bow, there is a large galley fitted with professional appliances. Also located forward is the master cabin, with large windows on both sides. Going below deck, the guest area features four cabins, including two VIP cabins with double beds and two with twin beds, each of which has its own en-suite bathroom.
Access to the crew cabins is amidships, and provides access to the galley, the control panel and the side doors without coming into contact with owners and their guests.
The flying bridge has plenty of sunbathing space, while a table with a wide bench and barbeque area provide another dining area, so that those aboard have the opportunity to enjoy life in the open air at sea.
The internal fittings are all modern, and feature light, bright woods such as durmast with walnut inserts. The owner can choose finishes from the wide range of choices available, in line with the Custom Line tradition.
This maxi yacht ca be equipped with two types of engines, i.e. twin 16v 2000 M93 1790kW MTU engines able to reach a top speed of 29 knots (at half load) and a cruising speed of 27 knots, or twin 16v 2000 M91 1470 kW MTU able to reach a top speed of 27 knots and cruising speed of 25. Four Mitsubishi ARG (Anti-Rolling Gyro) stabilisers are fitted in the engine room of the Custom Line 97’.
Like all the other maxi yachts in the Custom Line planing range, this line is fitted with a hull that allows a displacement speed of 12-14 knots, with the yacht in a perfectly horizontal position, drastically reducing fuel consumption on long voyages.
CRN 43 (US debut)
The first hull of the new CRN 43 displacement line, “Emerald Star”, launched last May, is the largest vessel ever produced by the CRN shipyard in composite materials. The mega-yacht, defined by the Miami Boat Show organizing committee as the ‘Queen of the Show’, presents a one-of-its-kind external layout, together with a masterful arrangement of the internal spaces. A joint effort of the CRN technical staff and the Zuccon International Project Firm, which handled the design of the internal and external lines, this 43-metre maxi-yacht has three decks and a bulbous hull.
An ideal ship for long, comfort-filled cruises, “Emerald Star” can accomodate 10 passengers and 9 crew members. The external spaces feature large volumes and extensive open-air spaces, all designed to allow the shipowner and guests to regain a more direct contact with the sea.
This is the point of the installation, on the aft portion of the lower deck, of a fitness room equipped with the most advanced Technogym equipment available, entered from the outside by means of an open-air stairway made of steel and teak, and from the inside along a passageway that connects it directly to the main lounge. The CRN 43-metre expresses a new philosophy of life at sea. Now cruising on a mega-yacht provides not only an occasion for discovering exotic paradises, but also a chance to take care of one’s body and soul. Another distinguishing feature of this ship is the area created by opening the stern hatch, which transforms itself into a beach platform perched over the water, connected with the fitness area and designed to bring guests as close to the sea as possible.
While the external areas of “Emerald Star” stress its distinctive personality, thanks in no small part to the colours of the fabrics, selected in striking hues of emerald green and blue, all the interior settings are decorated in a more formal style. The undying allure of the classic, expression of a mature, refined taste on the part of a shipowner who is not influenced by passing fads, but searches for motifs whose elegance and value remain unchanged over time.
Exquisite panelling in natural cherry wood is found on all four decks of the maxi-yacht, interrupted only at its juncture points (hallways and lobbies) by sumptuous inlays of tobacco-colour, antiqued leather.
The shipowner’s suite, preceded by a private studio, faces out onto the sea, thanks to an exclusive terrace that is a special feature of this ship.
Two CATERPILLAR C32-C engines power the vessel at a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots: levels of performance that provide the crowning touch for a vessel which stresses the pleasure of navigation and life onboard, thanks in large part to the installation of 7 MITSUBISHI ARG MSM-5000 stabilisers.
