Ferretti Yachts, historical brand of the Ferretti Group which produces flybridge motoryachts measuring 15 to 27 metres, presents the new Ferretti 620 as a world preview at the Genoa Boat Show.
Ferretti 620 is the development of the famous model Ferretti 592, from which it originated and was inspired, through structural and decorative changes in design and dcor, giving the yacht even greater liveability. Moreover, important technical-engineering research has been added to these characteristics, giving the new model excellent levels of comfort and ease of handling.
Ferretti 620 was developed through the working relationship between Studio Zuccon International Project, the AYT Advanced Yacht Technology, the Ferretti Groups naval research and design centre, and the team of architects and designers at the Centro Stile Ferrettigroup. Measuring almost 19 metres in length and over 5 in width, she responds even better to the demands of those Owners looking for a yacht with the right balance between a compact, sporty external line and excellent living solutions. Indeed, Ferretti 620 features enormous space for socialising both on the main deck and outside, whilst the lower deck has two spacious guest cabins and a full-beam master cabin with large, open view windows, typical of much larger yachts. Externally, the profile of the yacht has been made lighter by inserting four large windows in the hull: two large windows with portholes which can be opened have been fitted at bow in the VIP cabin; and two oval windows with twin portholes light the guest cabins.
MAIN DECK
One important innovation is apparent upon boarding the new model: the cockpit has been extended in length by over a foot. Better use has been made of the space through insertion of a fixed teak table, complete with large bench, and the fact the gangway has been moved to the left a solution typical of larger yachts - in order to make onboard access more functional. Enlargement of the cockpit has led to a new solution being developed for hauling the tender using a davit. Said davit is stored in a space located behind the spacious stern bench.
The galley has remained astern on the right as in the previous model, but a solution has been chosen to the further advantage of aesthetics and onboard comfort: an electric wall, complete with sliding door has been fitted, which can isolate and close the galley environment and means the main deck can be used as a living area.
Two steps separate the galley from the living area, which is equipped with a large divan and table on the right, whilst on the left there is another comfortable divan.
Internally, the harmonious contrast between the new streaked bleached oak wood, the original biscuit colour, the lacquered inserts and the dcor which plays with the light, move this environment, giving a feeling of contemporary elegance.
The helm station is set in a raised position on the left in order to ensure maximum visibility whilst driving.
LOWER DECK
Below deck, Ferretti 620 features a full-beam master cabin which is typical of larger yachts, with large open view windows, a wardrobe and full-beam head, plus a large separate shower area.
Besides the master cabin, there is also a cabin with a double bed at bow, featuring a private head with separate shower. A cabin with two single beds set parallel one to the other is also located in this area, with a private head. Both guest cabins feature large windows with portholes which can be opened.
A number of important, innovative changes have been made on the lower deck of Ferretti 620 regards how the crew, engine room and tank areas have been divided, leading to a significant improvement in privacy and the quality of life on board .
Regarding the space available, the tank for Ferretti 620 has been inserted between the master area and the crew cabin. A cabin covering the width of the hull has now been reserved for the crew, featuring a separate head and portholes which can be opened.
FLYING BRIDGE
Large open-air spaces can be enjoyed on the flying bridge of Ferretti 620, with a sun area towards bow and a dining and grill area towards stern. A new bar unit with integrated seating has been fitted on the left, whilst the external driving position is on the right.
SOUND COMFORT AND EASE OF HANDLING
Ferretti 620 stands out for her exceptional levels of comfort, not only from the point of view of the organisation and layout of the various spaces, but also owing to her onboard liveability, including sound comfort and ease of handling.
Excellent results have been achieved regards sound comfort. Compared with Ferretti 590, the first example in this Ferretti Yachts segment which was launched during the 2002-2003 nautical year, the noise levels in the salon and cabins have been reduced by over 3dBA. The combined study of a number of different elements has led to better quality of life on board. The first is guaranteed by the new layout of Ferretti 620, where the fuel tank is set as a bulkhead which separates the engine and crew areas and the living areas, thus becoming a highly efficient insulator. Careful study of the discharge silencers through Built-in technology developed by the Ferretti Group has been added to this, as well as the careful use of sound absorbent materials. Moreover, introduction of the Integral V Drive by ZF propulsion system, used for the first time on yachts of this kind by the Ferretti Group, has reduced the rotating masses, significantly cutting noise levels.
As far as handling is concerned, Ferretti 620 features the cutting-edge technology of the ZF SteerCommand for Ferretti system, developed by ZF Marine, world leader in the production of marine propulsion systems, in close collaboration with the Ferretti Group. This system features independent rudders and differentiated turn with variable assistance, halving the turning diameter and responsiveness to the controls, guaranteeing a runabout unthinkable on a 62 footer yacht, whilst still guaranteeing the highest level of handling, control and safety at any speed.
ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE
Ferretti 620 is fitted with either standard twin MAN V 8-900 engines with a power of 900mhp, or twin MAN V10-1100 with a power of 1100mhp, on request. Ferretti 620 can reach a cruise speed of over 30 knots and a top speed of 33 when fitted with the larger engines.
