Ferretti Altura 690: a return to the values of a winning philosophy

2005年1月15日

FERRETTI YACHTS, leading international shipyard in the design and construction of luxury fibreglass flying bridge motor yachts ranging between 46 and 88 feet, recently presented plans for a new range of yachts at Düsseldorf. The range has been given a name traditionally important for the company, which evokes the successful philosophy that has shaped the history of motor yachts worldwide.
The first fibreglass yacht in the Altura range was a motorsailer, Altura 42, built by the Ferretti shipyard in the 1970's and inspired by concepts of light, comfort and safety. The Altura 46 and Altura 49 belong to the 1980's, and marked the beginning of motor yachting which saw many types of yacht up to the present-day flying bridge designs.

The decision by FERRETTI YACHTS to use the name FERRETTI Altura 690 for the new model (21 metres / 68 feet) was born of a desire to take a fresh look at the philosophy behind the creation of the Altura range - comfortable yachts with plenty of space that made it possible to "live" on board. Specially designed for cruising, these yachts had considerable autonomy and were designed with a more nautical flavour, using plenty of wood in the interiors for example.

The new range is therefore based on a successful philosophy, combined with the technological innovations achieved in over thirty years of research and trials. The FERRETTI Altura 690 is a perfect combination of a motor yacht with an aft cabin designed for medium to long range cruises - a sort of second home also suited to river navigation, and a flying bridge yacht designed with all the technical and design features of FERRETTI YACHTS.

FERRETTI Altura 690, designed by Studio Zuccon International Project in association with the Ferretti Yachts Engineering division, presents a yacht offering more space inside and high enough to allow the master cabin to be located aft, away from the other accommodation and accessible from the lounge. A window over the bedhead, opposite the spoiler, gives a fabulous view of the sea.

The interior is in opaque teak with panelling on all the walls and bulkheads, while the upper part has natural fibre covering. The large lounge on the FERRETTI Altura 690 comprises a living area on the starboard side with two sofas and a table, and two comfortable armchairs on the opposite port side.

Continuing to port, you come to the bridge with the dining area to starboard that can seat up to six people. Double doors with an external hatch provide access to the bridge and the dining area.

Below deck on the port side are the galley, the crew's quarters and the engine room. On the starboard side there is a guest room with twin beds and a head with double access. The VIP cabin with private head is located forward.

The external design of the new FERRETTI Altura 690 is also very spacious. As well as the traditional fore bridge, there is also a large living room in the bows, with a double sofa and a table as well as two large sun-lounge areas, one of which features a beach umbrella that can provide shade at lunchtime.

The fore bridge has a practical mechanism for lowering and lifting the tender in and out of the water, and can be turned into a small beach, ideal for swimming.

Two large sun loungers are located on the flying bridge.

In terms of speed, the performance of the new FERRETTI Altura 690, while not a principle feature of this type of boat, is perfectly in line with the performance of the rest of the FERRETTI YACHTS fleet, and the higher-end engines of the two available types (MTU 1218 and MTU 1102) offers a maximum speed of 32,5 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots.
