1 Porsche Museum, Stuttgart
The engine is already revving: opened in 2009, it is an architectural
work of art, with a futuristic structure that reflects the brand’s
innovative spirit. It houses more than 80 historic vehicles, including
the legendary 356 (the first car produced by the company) and
iconic models such as the 911 and 917. Inside, interactive displays and
temporary exhibitions celebrate the passion for speed and design.
2 Mercedes–Benz Museum, Stuttgart
Just a few kilometers away: opened in 2006, the museum traces
more than 130 years of automotive history, starting with the creation
of the first internal combustion engine by Karl Benz. With a collection
of over 160 vehicles, including classic cars, trucks and concept cars.
There are eight themed rooms, interactive exhibits and multimedia
installations.
3 Audi Museum Mobile, Ingolstadt
We now head north to reach the site opened in 2000. Inside, the
collection contains more than 50 vehicles, including the first DKW and
Auto Union, right up to modern prototypes and series models. The
museum is structured on four floors, each dedicated to a different era
in Audi’s history. Entering the panoramic lift is a must.
4 BMW Museum, Munich
The descent to Italy begins. The museum in Munich opened its
doors in 1973 and was renovated in 2008. It is a celebration of BMW
design and technology with over 120 vehicles on display, including
motorbikes, sports cars and luxury sedans. A journey through time
through the brand’s history, engineering innovation, iconic design and
motor racing.
5 National Automobile Museum, Turin
Having crossed the Alps, we head to the capital of the region of
Piedmont: founded in 1933 and renovated in 2011, the museum
houses one of the most comprehensive collections in the world. With
over 200 vehicles, it tells the history of the automobile from its origins
to the present day. Among the most valuable pieces are early Italian
cars, rare models and innovative prototypes.
6 Enzo Ferrari Museum, Modena
A compulsory stop at the birthplace of the Commendatore: the
compound includes his home and a modern facility which houses
a collection of historic and modern Cavallino Rampante “Prancing
Horse” cars. Interactive exhibitions that highlight his contribution to
the automobile history.
7 Ferrari Museum, Maranello
The last stop is a celebration of Made in Italy: located next to the
Fiorano factory and test track, it is the greatest tribute to the sporting
and industrial history of the Scuderia. Opened in 1990 and renovated
in 2013, it displays a wide range of cars, from Formula 1 models to
prototypes and road cars. And the thrill of racing and discovering
the secrets of supercar production is sublimated by a simulator test.
Last stop on our journey, but... at 300 mph.
